T.K. Ramamoorthy, born Tiruchirapalli Krishnaswamy Ramamoorthy on May 15, 1922, was a renowned Tamil music composer and violinist. He was affectionately known as Mellisai Mannar, meaning "The King of Light Music." Throughout his career, Ramamoorthy made significant contributions to Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu films. Alongside M. S. Viswanathan, he formed the celebrated musical duo Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy, composing scores for over 100 films in the South Indian film industry during the 1950s and 1960s. The duo amicably parted ways in 1965 but reunited after 29 years for the film Engirundho Vanthan in 1995. T.K. Ramamoorthy passed away on April 17, 2013.
