Tommi Stumpff was a German electronic and punk musician, born on February 1, 1958, in Düsseldorf, Germany. He began his career as the vocalist of a Düsseldorf-based punk band in the late 1970s. After the band disbanded in 1982, he embarked on a solo career and became one of the pioneers of the electro-punk genre. His collaborations with the legendary producer Conny Plank, known for working with artists like Kraftwerk and D.A.F., resulted in influential recordings. Stumpff achieved notable success with hit songs such as “Mich kriegt ihr nicht” and “Massaker,” as well as hit albums like “Terror II” and “Ultra.” In 1993, he retired from the music industry to pursue a full-time career in the IT sector. However, he made a comeback in 2015 under the name "Stumpff," performing live with a three-piece band and incorporating electric guitars into his music. In 2021, he released his first work since 1993, an EP titled "Alles Idioten," featuring both "Stumpff" and "Tommi Stumpff" on the cover and spines, indicating their interchangeability. Tommi Stumpff passed away from cancer on July 28, 2023.
