Tommy James & the Shondells was a garage pop rock psychedelic band formed in 1960 in Niles, Michigan, USA. The band was fronted by Tommy James and disbanded in 1970. They achieved significant success with two number one singles in the U.S.: "Hanky Panky" in July 1966 and "Crimson and Clover" in February 1969. In addition to these hits, they charted 12 other top 40 songs, including five in the Hot 100's top 10: "I Think We're Alone Now," "Mirage," "Mony Mony," "Sweet Cherry Wine," and "Crystal Blue Persuasion."
