Tommy Magness was an American country and bluegrass fiddler, born on October 21, 1916, and passed away on October 5, 1972. In the late 1930s, he was a member of Roy Hall's Blue Ridge Entertainer, later joining Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys in the early 1940s. After a brief return to Hall's group, Magness spent several years with Roy Acuff in the late 1940s. He then formed a group called the Tennessee Buddies, which included notable musicians Don Reno and Red Smiley.
