Tommy McCook and the Supersonics were a studio band formed after a split due to a tragic incident in 1965. McCook left Studio One and joined another label, bringing together old partners and new musicians. They became one of Jamaica's most productive studio backing bands, with releases credited to them or to other acts. Tommy McCook led the Supersonics until they disbanded during a trip to Montreal, Canada, in 1969.
