Tommy McCook was the real name of the leader of The Supersonics, a studio band formed after a split due to a tragic incident in 1965. Following this event, McCook left Studio One and joined another label. The Supersonics consisted of former partners from previous times and a mix of new musicians. They became one of Jamaica's most productive studio backing bands, with releases credited to them or to other artists. Tommy McCook led the band until it disbanded during a trip to Montreal, Canada, in 1969.
