Toni Basil is an American choreographer, singer, and actress born on September 22, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is best known for her 1982 hit song "Mickey." Basil's career has spanned several decades, particularly as a choreographer, collaborating with notable artists such as David Byrne, David Bowie, Bette Midler, and Tina Turner. She served as an assistant choreographer and go-go dancer on the American musical variety series "Shindig!" (ABC-TV) and appeared in the 1964 concert film "T.A.M.I. Show," alongside her longtime friend Teri Garr. Additionally, she had a role in the film "Easy Rider," where she played a hooker on acid.
