Toni Harper was an American jazz vocalist born on June 8, 1937, in Los Angeles, CA, and she passed away on February 10, 2023, in Palm Desert, CA. She began her musical training at the age of 7, focusing on riffs and novelty material for concert hall performances. By the age of 16, she recorded an LP and developed a more mature style. After a modest career with a series of tours and film appearances, Harper retired from performing around 1966 to raise her son, Dane Batiste Jackson, whom she had with Eugene Jackson. In the 1970s, she married Ron Dunlap and pursued a long administrative career with the federal government. In her later years, Harper maintained an active social media presence and had a nominal website for a planned new release, which was taken offline after her death.
