**Bio: Tonton Macoute** Tonton Macoute was a progressive jazz/rock band formed in the UK in 1971 by four musicians after the tragic death of lead singer and guitarist Dick Scott in a road accident while on tour. The band was managed by Ken Howard and Alan Blaikely, who also managed other notable acts like Matthews Southern Comfort and The Herd. The band consisted of Paul French on vocals and keys, Dave Knowles on vocals, sax, and flute, Chris Gavin (Gavin Wilkinson) on guitar and bass, and Nigel Reveler on drums and percussion. Following Tonton Macoute's disbandment, Paul French went on to form Voyager, which achieved chart success in 1979 with the song "Halfway Hotel" and released three albums before disbanding in 1982. He has recently reformed Voyager to release the album "Eyecontact" and performs regularly at The Piano, located at 106 Kensington High St. Dave Knowles formed his own band called Turbo in the 1970s and currently resides in Cornwall. Gavin Wilkinson pursued a career in fine art and photography but continues to play music regularly in the Newbury area. Nigel Reveler has built a successful career in the record industry and currently operates a distribution company named Active Media. The name "Tonton Macoute" is derived from Haitian Creole mythology, referring to a boogeyman who kidnapped children who stayed out too late, as well as the brutal presidential guard
