Tony Joe White was an American swamp rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist, born on July 23, 1943, in Oak Grove, Louisiana. He passed away on October 24, 2018, in Leiper's Fork, Tennessee. White is best known for his song "Polk Salad Annie," which peaked at #8 on the Billboard chart. In 1969, he recorded "Rainy Night In Georgia," which reached #4 on the Billboard chart. In 1989, he released a single that was covered by another artist, whose version peaked at #40 on the US Billboard top 100 and achieved moderate success across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He was married in 1964 until his death in 2018 and was the father of two children.
