Too $hort, born on April 28, 1966, in Los Angeles, is an American rapper and producer who moved to Oakland at the age of 14. He began his rap career in the early 1980s, collaborating with a high school friend to create custom cassette tapes known as "special requests," which they sold on the streets. Too $hort officially released his first album in 1985 through a local Oakland record label and signed with a larger label in 1987. In 1988, he added the "$" to his name. After moving to Atlanta in 1996, he eventually returned to Northern California. With over 25 full-length albums to his credit, Too $hort remains active in the music industry. He is recognized as one of the first rappers to embody the 'pimp' and 'playa' lifestyle in his lyrics, and his trademark phrase "Biiiitch" is well-known among fans.
