Too Short is an American rapper and producer born on April 28, 1966, in Los Angeles. He moved to Oakland at the age of 14 and began his rap career in the early 1980s, collaborating with a high school friend to create custom cassette tapes known as "special requests," which they sold on the streets. Too Short officially released his first album in 1985 on a local Oakland record label and signed to a major record label in 1987. In 1988, he added the "$" to his name. In 1996, he moved to Atlanta but later returned to Northern California. Throughout his career, he has released over 25 full-length albums and remains active in the music industry. Too Short is known for being one of the first rappers to represent the 'pimp' and 'playa' lifestyle in his lyrics, with the phrase "Biiiitch" being one of his trademarks.
