Tools You Can Trust was an industrial/experimental band hailing from the Hulme district of Manchester. The core members were Ben Stedman, who played drums and tapes, and Rob Ward, who contributed vocals, percussion, and tapes. The band also featured a rotating lineup of musicians, including Eddie Fenn, Phil Hughes, Claire Wilkinson, Jill Richardson, Martin Herring, Colin Larn, and Kathy Lou Patterson, who participated in various recording sessions and live performances. Their music was characterized by a blend of drums and metal percussion, with minimal use of guitars, and was known for its strongly politicized lyrics. Throughout their career, Tools You Can Trust recorded three sessions for John Peel's Radio 1 show.
