Toshiro Mayuzumi was a Japanese composer born on February 20, 1929, in Yokohama. He studied at the Tokyo University of Art and Music and Le Conservatoire de Paris. In the 1950s, Mayuzumi organized the "Three Composers' Group" in Tokyo and became a pioneer of contemporary music. He was among the first to create electronic music in Japan at NHK Studios. Best known for his film soundtracks, he composed over 100 throughout his career. Mayuzumi passed away on April 10, 1997, in Kawasaki.
