Towa Tei is a producer, remixer, DJ, artist, and creative director born in Yokohama, Japan, in 1964. He began his career as a member of Deee-lite, which released the hit single "Groove Is In The Heart" in 1990. Towa has also released solo albums under his own name. Before his time with Deee-lite, while studying in New York City, he worked as an assistant to a prominent figure in the music industry, having previously submitted an early demo tape for a radio show in 1986. This early demo was later released in 1991 under a different name.
