**Bio: T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo** T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo is a renowned band hailing from Cotonou, Benin (formerly Dahomey). The name "T.P." stands for "Tout Puissant," meaning "All Mighty." Originally founded in 1968 as Orchestre Poly-Disco, the band featured original members Melome Clement (founder and vocals), Bentho Gustave (bass), and Bernard 'Papillon' Zoundegnon (guitar), among others. In search of a soul singer, Bentho and Papillon recruited Vincent Ahehehinnou from Daho Jazz, a band struggling for success. The group underwent several name changes, becoming Orchestre El Ritmo before finally establishing itself as Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou after signing with a label owner in 1969. Over the next twelve years, they achieved significant success with numerous records and triumphant tours. However, tensions arose when Vincent Ahehehinnou left the group on May 28, 1978, following disagreements with Adissa Seidou, who sought to marginalize Melome Clement. Vincent's protests led to death threats and voodoo rites against him. Although the band lost some notoriety in the 1980s, they continued to perform, with members changing over the years. T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo has an extensive discography, boasting over 50 LP
