Traffic Sound is a psychedelic and progressive rock band from Lima, Peru, founded in 1967. The original lineup included members on vocals, rhythm guitar, saxophone, lead guitar (Willy "Wilito" Barclay), bass, and drums (Luis "Lucho" Nevares). The band was formed when Freddy and Manuel, who had previously played together in Los Hang Ten's, decided to create Traffic Sound after a memorable night out that led to the name being inspired by a traffic light they kept as a souvenir. After a year of rehearsing and performing at small private shows, Traffic Sound gained significant attention at Lima's psychedelic venue, The Tiffany. Their debut album, "A Bailar Go Go," was released in 1968 and featured cover songs. They followed up with their second album, "Virgin," in 1969, which included all original material and established them as a legendary act in the psychedelic scene. Their third LP, titled "Traffic Sound aka. III aka Tibet's Suzettes," was released in 1970 and showcased a blend of psychedelia and Andean folk influences, moving towards progressive rock. In 1971, Traffic Sound became the first Peruvian band to embark on a South American tour, performing in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile, where they received a warm reception. They later signed with Sono Radio and released four singles, although during this time, bassist Willy Thorne departed and was replaced by Miguel Angel Ruiz Orbegoso.
