Trevor Walters, born in 1961 in London, England, is a reggae singer known for his distinct soprano voice. He began his musical career with the Ital group and later collaborated with Santic, contributing to the hit ‘Bloody Eyes’. Walters recorded as part of Youth And Youth, releasing ‘Try Love Again’, and before launching his solo career, he recorded the duet ‘Back Together Again’ with Jean Adebambo, showcasing the potential of both vocalists. His protest song ‘They’ll Never Get Away’ gained popularity in the reggae charts, and in 1981, he wrote and recorded ‘Give Love A Try’, which topped the reggae chart. That same year, he reached number 27 in the UK pop charts with ‘Love Me Tonight’. Despite facing some criticism from reggae fans for his crossover success, he continued to release material that performed well in the reggae charts, including ‘Handyman’, ‘Comma Comma’, and ‘Lovers Medley’ with Jah Bunny. In July 1984, he returned to the UK pop charts, reaching number 9 with his cover of Lionel Richie’s ‘Stuck On You’, and also covered Richie’s ‘Penny Lover’, which did not chart. His crossover success led to a contract with Polydor Records for a cover of Andrew Gold’s ‘Never Let Her Slip Away’, which had limited success, followed by the unsuccessful ‘Love’s A Lie’.
