T.Rex, originally a British psychedelic folk duo, was fronted by guitarist and vocalist Marc Feld (born Mark Feld) and Stephen Porter (born Stephen Porter). They transitioned into glam rock pioneers and shortened their name to T. Rex in 1970. The band achieved a series of top ten hits in the UK, including four number one singles. In the United States, their major hit was "Bang a Gong (Get It On)." T.Rex maintained a following until the death of Marc Bolan in 1977.
