TRIO was an original German pop music trio active from 1980 to 1986. Initially named Zam by their record label, Mercury Records, in 1981, they later rebranded themselves as TRIO to enhance their recognition in Europe. The group gained worldwide fame with their hit single "Da Da Da," which became a massive success in over 30 countries. The band consisted of Stephan Remmler (vocals), Gert 'Kralle' Krawinkel (guitar), and Peter Behrens (drums). They released three studio albums and one live album, which was recorded on cassette and later reissued on CD. In 1997, TRIO experienced a resurgence in popularity when "Da Da Da" was featured in a Volkswagen Jetta television commercial titled "Sunday Afternoon." In response to this renewed interest, Mercury Records quickly released a compilation of the group's tracks. An interesting fact about Peter Behrens is that he was recruited directly from Circus Clown School and played drums standing up until the band disbanded in 1986.
