Fernando "Nando" Estenoz, originally from Ciego de Ávila, Cuba, formed the first Avileño Trio around 1940. The group recorded several songs, including "El Nené Chiquitico," "Tú Lo Has Querido," "Bella Oriental," "De Ayer A Hoy," "Con Pañuelo Colorado," and "Casilda." After performing in Havana and as a soloist, he moved to Mexico in 1951, where he renamed the group Trio Avileño and joined forces with Mexican brothers Toño and Miguel Medina, who were from El Tejar, Veracruz.
