**Bio: Trio Irakitan** The Irakitan Trio is a vocal and instrumental ensemble formed in 1950 by Edson Reis de França (Edinho), Paulo Duarte Gilvan Bezerril (Paulo Gilvan), and João Manoel de Araújo Costa Netto (Joãozinho). After Edinho's death in 1965, Antonio Santos Cunha (Toni) joined the group, making his debut with the album "A volta," released in 1967 by Odeon. All original members of the trio are now deceased. Initially named Trio Muirakitan by Brazilian anthropologist Luís da Câmara Cascudo, the name was changed to Trio Irakitan due to the existence of another group with the same name. The term "muiraquitã" refers to a green frog-shaped stone found in Amazonian rivers, often used as an amulet or decorative item. Over their successful 50-year career, the trio released 78 albums, including compilations and EPs.
