Tropenkoller was an experimental music project active from 1986 to 1989 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (now Chemnitz), a notable subcultural hub in the GDR during the late 1970s and 80s. The project emerged within a vibrant artistic environment characterized by a variety of bands and the cassette label klangFarBe. Tropenkoller was known for its unique sound that embraced dissonance as a non-ideological form of harmonics. In 1988, they released their first and only tape, which featured extravagant packaging and was limited to just twenty-five copies, reflecting its exclusive nature within their open circle.
