T.S.O.L. is an American punk band formed in 1979 in Huntington Beach, California. The original lineup included Jack Grisham (vocals), Ron Emory (guitar), Mike Roche (bass), and Todd Barnes (drums). Initially, the band was known for its politically-tinged hardcore punk sound but later incorporated horror themes, influencing the early deathrock scene. The original members recorded two EPs and two LPs before Barnes and Grisham left in 1983, with Mitch Dean and Joe Wood joining the band. This new lineup continued to release music throughout the 1980s, transitioning towards hard rock. Eventually, Emory and Roche also departed, leaving no original members in the band. In 1991, the original lineup reunited for live performances but could not use the T.S.O.L. name, which was under the control of Wood and Dean. Wood toured with the T.S.O.L. name through the 1990s, primarily in South America. In 1999, Emory, Grisham, and Roche regained control of the band name and have since continued to tour and occasionally record. Tragically, Barnes passed away from a brain aneurysm in 1999 after struggling with addiction issues. The band has seen various members come and go over the years, including Marshall Rohner (guitar, 1990), and several drummers, with Travis Johnson being the current drummer since 2004.
