Tubarões, also known as Os Tubarões, is a seven-piece band from Cape Verde that emerged in the post-independence era. They are recognized as the "official" band of Cape Verde, serving as ambassadors of Capeverdean music. The group is known for their vibrant coladera dances, traditional morna songs, and funaná beats, which address the challenges faced by Cape Verde's diaspora around the world. Notably, none of the band members were full-time musicians; they held various professions, including lawyers, doctors, and civil servants. Os Tubarões recorded eight albums between 1976 and 1994.
