**Twisted Sister Bio** Twisted Sister is a US-American heavy metal band formed in Long Island, New York, by guitarist Jay Jay French in December 1972. The band's songwriting was primarily driven by Dee Snider from 1976 onward. Originally named Silver Star, the band changed its name to Twisted Sister on Valentine's Day in 1973. They quickly gained popularity, performing six nights a week at various clubs, including a residency at the Mad Hatter in East Quogue, NY, where they played 105 nights during the summer of 1973. The band experienced several lineup changes over the years, with Jay Jay French taking over lead vocals and management duties after multiple transitions. By February 1976, Dee Snider joined the band, marking a shift towards a heavier musical direction. The band's popularity began to rise as they engaged with audiences between songs. Twisted Sister released their first EP, "Ruff Cuts," in June 1982, followed by their debut studio album, "Under the Blade." They adopted a more grotesque image that set them apart from other glam metal bands. Their first LP under Atlantic Records, "You Can't Stop Rock 'n Roll," was released in 1983, featuring the UK hit "I Am (I'm Me)."
