Dave Jay, known by his stage name Twisted Tongue, is a London-based writer and producer with a career spanning from 1990 to 2015 in various record labels, including WEA/Maverick, Mangled, Atlantic/Big Beat, Suburban Base, London Records, and Freskanova. He has had his tracks remixed by notable artists such as Dan The Automator, Blue States, and Ray Mang, and his music has been featured in film and television. In 2006, Jay launched his production project initially named 'Twisted Tongue All-Stars' and quickly signed with Acid Jazz Records, which is known for artists like Matt Berry, Jamiroquai, and The Brand New Heavies. After shortening the name to 'Twisted Tongue' and collaborating with co-producer and guitarist Mark Dalton, he released two albums before Dalton departed midway through the second album. Following a remix project for Aural Graffiti Records in 2015, Jay shifted his focus away from music, publishing two books and pursuing a master's degree in film. However, in 2021, he revived the 'Twisted Tongue All-Stars' name to commemorate the group's 15th anniversary, returning to its jazz/funk fusion roots in collaboration with UK jazz horn player Graeme Flowers and LA-based session singer Rose. This collaboration culminated in the creation of his fourth and final album, 'This Was Twisted Tongue', which he self-released
