Two Minds Crack is a band formed in Port Talbot, Wales, in 1980 by its founding members, who handled vocals and guitar, and guitar and keyboards. In 1981, they recorded a demo tape that received positive reviews, leading to their track "The Sense That Never Sleeps" being included on a compilation LP of upcoming artists the following year. Two additional tracks from the demo were featured on another compilation released in the same year. After adding a member for bass and guitar, the band relocated to London in 1983 and recruited a drummer. They became the first act signed to a specific label, which released their first two singles in 1984: "The Hunger and the Greed," which was popular in Spain and Italy, and "Enemies of Promise," which enjoyed success throughout Europe. Following some managerial issues, one member left the band, and the remaining members continued as a trio. In early 1985, they signed with an American label and began working with a producer and sound engineer. Their album, The Victory Parade, was released worldwide in 1986 and featured new recordings of previous tracks, including a reworked version of "The Hunger and the Greed." In the US, the video for "Cry Cry Cry" received some airplay on MTV, and the single reached #45 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart.
