U Myint Maung (1937–2001) was a renowned saung-gauk player from Myanmar, celebrated for his performances of classical works known as Mahagita, which are part of the Thachinkan genre, recognized for their poetic and refined qualities. He was considered one of the best harpists of the modern era. Originally hailing from Inle Lake, U Myint Maung became an apprentice to the legendary U Ba Than in 1962. He later relocated to Mandalay, where he established a school in his home. In 1965, he achieved recognition by winning a competition at the Mandalay School of the Arts.
