Ultravox, originally stylized as Ultravox!, was a British new wave band formed in London in 1973. Between 1980 and 1986, they achieved significant success, scoring seven Top Ten albums and seventeen Top 40 singles in the UK. Their most notable hit was the 1981 track "Vienna." The band's early lineup included vocalist John Foxx, along with Billy Currie, Chris Cross, and Warren Cann. They were joined by guitarist Stevie Shears for the first two albums, and Robin Simon replaced Shears for the third album, "Systems of Romance," during which the band dropped the exclamation mark from their name. After an American tour in 1979, John Foxx left to pursue solo projects, followed by Simon's departure. Currie, Cross, and Cann then welcomed Midge Ure on vocals and guitar, forming the most recognized 'classic' 80s lineup. This version of the band recorded ten UK Top Twenty singles and seven UK Top Twenty albums, including hits like "Vienna," "Hymn," and "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes." In May 1986, prior to the recording of the poorly received U-Vox album, Warren Cann was asked to leave due to "irreconcilable differences." The band brought in a new drummer but disbanded shortly after the album's release. In the early 1990s, Billy Currie created a new version of Ultravox
