Universal Togetherness Band was an innovative group that operated between 1979 and 1982, recording a vast array of music for students at Columbia College’s audio engineering program. This erudite party band made their mark by exploring a diverse mix of soul, jazz-fusion, new wave, and disco, often disregarding studio costs and the limitations of magnetic tape. Their work features a collection of previously unheard tracks, showcasing the band's unique sound during a prolific five-semester recording period. The attractive gatefold LP edition includes stunning reproductions of rare images from Chicago photographer Steven E. Gross, while the CD version offers candid snapshots from the band’s personal archives. The original multi-track sessions were meticulously mixed by Sean Marquand (Phenomenal Handclap Band), ensuring that Universal Togetherness Band is presented in peak fidelity.
