Unsane is a noise rock trio from New York City, formed in 1988. The essential lineup includes Chris Spencer, Vincent Signorelli, and Dave Curran. The original lineup featured Spencer, Pete Shore, and drummer Charlie Ondras, who tragically passed away from a drug overdose in 1992. In early August 2019, Spencer announced that the band would permanently cease activity. However, on August 27, 2021, he revealed the formation of a new lineup of Unsane via the band's Instagram page, featuring new members Cooper and Jon Syverson, with a focus on performing the band's early material. Their song "Scrape," from their 1995 album, received significant airplay on MTV and became their biggest hit to date. To avoid confusion with a heavy metal band of the same name, they often use the suffix "NYC."
