Urge Overkill is a rock and roll group from Chicago, Illinois, formed around the core songwriting duo of Kato and Roeser. Both members play guitar and share lead and backing vocal duties, depending on who wrote the song. The current rhythm section consists of members from The Last Vegas. After an eight-year hiatus following their breakup in 1996, Urge Overkill reformed in 2004 to perform live shows and solidify their lineup. They released their first new song in fifteen years, "Effigy," in September 2010, as a preview for their album "Rock&Roll Submarine." In Fall 2021, the band announced a new album titled "Oui," set for release in January 2022. They released three singles in the last three months of 2021: "Freedom!", "A Necessary Evil," and "How Sweet The Light." Live bass players from 1993-94 included unspecified individuals.
