Uri Katzenstein (1951-2018) was an Israeli multidisciplinary artist known for his work in sculpture, installation, performance art, video, and drawing. Born in Kibbutz Maabarot, Israel, he studied at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Katzenstein's art frequently examined themes of identity, history, and politics, often utilizing found objects and materials in his creations. He exhibited widely both in Israel and internationally, including notable venues such as the Venice Biennale, the Sao Paulo Biennial, and Documenta in Kassel, Germany. In addition to his artistic endeavors, Katzenstein was a respected educator, teaching at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, and other institutions in Israel. He received numerous accolades for his work, including the Israel Prize in Art in 2014. Katzenstein passed away in 2018 at the age of 67.
