Van Morrison, OBE, born on August 31, 1945, in Belfast, is a Grammy Award-winning Northern Irish singer, songwriter, author, poet, and multi-instrumentalist. He has been a professional musician since the late 1950s and is known for playing various instruments, including the guitar, harmonica, keyboards, drums, and saxophone. Affectionately referred to as "Van the Man" by his fans, Morrison began his musical journey as the lead singer of the band Them, where he wrote their iconic 1964 hit "Gloria." He transitioned to a successful solo career in the late 1960s, moving to the USA, first to New York City, then to Cambridge near Boston, where he recorded his landmark album, "Astral Weeks." Over the years, he has lived in various locations, including California and the UK, and has built his own Caledonia Studios in Marin County. Morrison's contributions to music have been recognized with his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. He ranked #25 on VH1's list of the 100 greatest artists of rock and roll in 2000 and was placed 42nd on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of The Immortals: 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2004. Additionally, Paste Magazine recognized him as the 20th greatest living songwriter in 2006
