The Velvet Underground was a rock band from New York, recognized for their significant influence and importance in music history. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as performers. The original members included Lou Reed (vocals, guitar, piano), John Cale (vocals, electric viola, organ, bass guitar), Sterling Morrison (vocals, guitar, bass guitar), and Maureen Tucker (drums, percussion). While the original drummer did not officially record with the band, another fleeting member contributed vocals to four songs on their 1967 debut LP. Conversely, the band also contributed to her solo debut in 1967.
