Mestre Verequete was a Brazilian singer and composer born on August 26, 1916. He is known for pioneering the Carimbó genre, which, although it has existed since the 19th century, was first recorded in Brazil by Verequete and his ensemble in 1970 with the album "Só Podia Ser." He passed away on November 3, 2009, at the age of 93.
