Vianey Valdez, born in August 1943, has a disputed birthplace with some sources claiming the Federal District and others stating Saltillo, Coahuila. She moved to Monterrey, Nuevo León, in 1965, where she became a beloved figure. Prior to her arrival in Monterrey, Vianey had recorded several discs with the Peerless label, achieving moderate success with songs like "Trucutu" and "Henery Hawk." In 1965, Vianey was hired by TV channel 6 Monterrey to host a musical program, which was inspired by popular formats in the United States. She insisted that Homero Gonzalez, whom she knew previously, take charge of the musical direction. Homero played a significant role in the program's success, writing most of the lyrics for the songs premiered on the show. Vianey collaborated with Leopoldo "Polo" Labastida, a former vocalist of the group Apson, and Jorge Baron, who had previously led a lesser-known group called the Zipps. The program began airing in February 1965 and quickly gained popularity among the youth, serving as a vital platform for numerous local and national artists. It was recorded live and aired Monday through Friday for one hour. Vianey's charm and charisma earned her comparisons to the American singer Brenda Lee, contributing to the show's success.
