Vic Chesnutt was a singer-songwriter born on November 12, 1964, in Jacksonville, Florida. He lived in Athens, Georgia, where he became a prominent figure in the local music scene, particularly at the 40 Watt Club. Following a car crash at the age of 18 that left him partly paralyzed, he performed in a wheelchair. His first two albums were produced by a notable figure in the music industry. In 1996, he gained wider recognition with the release of a tribute album featuring covers of his songs by various famous musicians, with proceeds benefiting the Sweet Relief Fund. Chesnutt was a prolific songwriter, collaborating with various artists throughout his career. Tragically, he passed away on December 25, 2009, from an overdose of muscle relaxants that left him in a coma in an Athens hospital.
