Victor Feldman was an English jazz musician born on April 7, 1934, in Edgware, Middlesex (now Greater London), England. He was a talented multi-instrumentalist, proficient in vibraphone, keyboards, drums, piano, and various percussion instruments. Feldman was also a songwriter, composer, and arranger of popular music. Considered a musical prodigy, he began performing professionally at the age of seven on drums, added piano at nine, and took up vibes at fourteen. In the mid-1950s, he immigrated to the United States, where he worked in jazz and as a session musician with pop and rock artists. In 1962, Feldman charted with his Victor Feldman Quartet, reaching #88 on the U.S. charts with "A Taste of Honey." He later transitioned from jazz to a more financially stable career in recording studios and popular music, writing for notable artists such as Joni Mitchell and Steely Dan from 1965 to 1985. Feldman passed away on May 12, 1987, in Los Angeles, California. He was the father of a jazz drummer and a jazz bassist, as well as a producer/manager.
