Vinícius de Moraes, nicknamed "O Poetinha" (The Little Poet), was a seminal figure in contemporary Brazilian music. Born on October 19, 1913, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he was a talented poet who wrote lyrics for numerous songs that became all-time classics. Vinícius was also a composer of Bossa nova, a playwright, a diplomat, and an interpreter of his own songs, leaving behind several important albums. He passed away on July 9, 1980, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
