**Viridanse Bio** Viridanse is a new wave/post-punk band from Alessandria, Italy, formed in 1983 by Flavio Gemma and Paolo Boveri, both previously members of the early 80s group Blaue Reiter. The original lineup also included Roberto Modellato on percussion and later Enrico Ferraris on guitar. The band produced a demo tape titled “Gallipoli 1915,” featuring four songs influenced by post-punk with a strong psychedelic touch, and began touring clubs where new wave music was emerging. In 1984, after Antonello DeBellis replaced Modellato on drums, Viridanse signed with Contempo Records, a key label in the Italian new wave scene. They released their EP “Benvenuto Cellini,” which garnered critical acclaim and became a symbol of early Italian dark-wave. The band's sound evolved with songs like “Mediterranea” and “Dolce Vita,” leading to the release of their LP “Mediterranea” in late 1985, which topped reader polls and established them as a leading group of the year. Viridanse continued to tour and gained recognition through various performances, including the significant “Rock contro la mafia” concert in 1986. However, by 1987, after recording demos for a new album, the group disbanded due to deteriorating relations with their label. Their unreleased tracks from 1987 were not made public until 2012,
