Voices Of Kwahn is an American musical duo consisting of vocalist and performance artist Anna Homler and multi-instrumentalist Mark "Pylon King" Davies. They first gained attention with their single "Colonist Dreamer," which showcased their unique blend of quirky vocals and electronic/ethnic ambience. The duo's journey began with their debut on Max-Bilt in 1993, where keyboardist Nigel Butler contributed to a sound characterized by samples, dance beats, dub reverbs, and avant-garde vocals, although Homler's role was minimal at that time. After Butler's departure, Davies incorporated ethnic influences, and Homler's vocals became integral to the dance/trance format, particularly evident in their work on "Silver Bowl Transmission" released by North South in 1996. Their subsequent release, "Swarffinger" in 1997, marked a shift towards a less ethereal sound, incorporating heavier samples and percussion, with a more industrial feel. The mini-album "Operation Dismantled Sun," released by Swarffinger in 1998, further evolved their style, moving away from ambient and new age elements to embrace a harder, harsher, and haunting musical approach.
