Volcano the Bear is an English quartet formed in Leicester in 1995, known for their eerily unmusical and hypnotic sound. Their music features oscillating, tribal waltzes and seemingly structureless soundscapes, ranging from spooky rhythmic and vocal exercises to abstract sounds interspersed with random bursts of strings, distorted piano, manipulated vocal noises, and odd percussion. The band consists of Aaron Moore on drums, trumpet, and vocals; Nick Mott on saxophone, guitar, and vocals; Laurence Coleman on tapes and electronics; and Daniel Padden on keyboards, guitar, clarinet, and vocals.
