Wadi El Safi was a Lebanese singer and songwriter, born on November 1, 1921, in Niha, Lebanon. He was trained in the classical tradition and sought to merge this with traditional and folk music, creating a modernized version of Lebanese folk music. Recognized as one of the most important Middle Eastern musicians of the modern era, he earned the title "The Voice of Lebanon." Wadi El Safi passed away on October 11, 2013.
