Waldir Azevedo was a Brazilian cavaquinho player and songwriter, born on January 27, 1923, in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. He recorded his first solo release in 1950 on Continental, featuring two choros on cavaquinho: "Cinco Malucos," which he composed himself, and "O que é que há," written by Dilermando Reis. In the 1950s, he founded his own orchestra and collaborated with various singers. Throughout his career, he recorded nearly forty 78 rpm records with Continental. Waldir Azevedo passed away on September 20, 1980, in São Paulo, SP.
