Waltel Branco (November 22, 1929 - November 28, 2018) was a Brazilian conductor, composer, and arranger, born in Paranaguá, Brazil. Growing up in a musical family, he began his musical journey at an early age, initially playing the drums, guitar, and ukulele, and later taking up the cello, harp, and organ. His childhood and adolescence were marked by a strong focus on music and religion, as he alternated between the cities of Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro. His musical education was further solidified during his time in the seminary, where he studied under Chilean musician Joquin Zamacois, along with other notable teachers including Benedict Mossurunga, Padre José Penalva, Jorge Koshag, Stanley Wilson, and Alceo Bocchino.
