Wanda Davis, born in Shreveport, Louisiana, graduated from Union High School in 1967. She sang in choirs at various churches, including Union Star Baptist Church, Union Spring Baptist Church, and Christ Temple Baptist Church in Shreveport. Later that year, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she was introduced to the 'Midwest Funk' sound and began performing at local sets. Wanda joined the female vocal group The Soul Sensations, who regularly played at Dirty Girty’s in St. Paul and Cozy Bar in Minneapolis, owned by Jimmy Fuller. In 1970, she was approached by producer Elijah McIntosh to record a version of Aretha Franklin's "Save Me." Wanda currently resides in Garland, Texas.
