Warren G, born Warren Griffin III on November 10, 1970, in Long Beach, California, is an American West Coast rapper and hip hop producer. He is best known for his 1994 hit single "Regulate," which features Nate Dogg and is a classic g-funk track. Warren G is the step-brother of renowned record producer Dr. Dre. In 1991, he formed the group 213 with Nate Dogg and Snoop Dogg, introducing the latter to Dr. Dre, who signed Snoop Dogg to Death Row Records. Although 213 disbanded before releasing any records, Warren G contributed to Dr. Dre's influential 1992 album, The Chronic, and became a regular contributor to many Death Row albums. Warren G's debut album, Regulate… G Funk Era, was released in 1994 under Def Jam and included the hit "Regulate," which samples Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin'." He followed this success with the 1997 album Take a Look Over Your Shoulder, which featured a rap remake of "What's Love Got to Do with It" and achieved gold status. In 1999, he released I Want It All, which is often regarded as his most consistent record, showcasing a jazz-rock fusion style and featuring collaborations with various artists.
