Washboard Sam was a blues singer and washboard player born on July 15, 1910, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He moved to Chicago in 1932, where he gained significant popularity as a recording artist, producing numerous records for Victor/Bluebird between 1935 and 1949. In addition to his solo work, he played washboard for many other artists during the same period. Washboard Sam passed away on November 13, 1966, in Chicago.
